The self-preservation Seven turns the Enthusiast's appetite toward security and comfort. Naranjo associated this subtype with "keepers of the castle" and family: a 7sp builds a circle of allies, a well-stocked home and a set of options so that they never have to go without. They are practical, shrewd and alert to opportunity, the person who knows the best restaurant, the cheapest flight and someone who can fix your roof by Friday.

A 7sp may juggle a side business, organise a group trip and negotiate a discount, all in the same afternoon. They enjoy hosting and feeding people. They are good at finding a way round obstacles and slightly allergic to being told no.

7sps often describe a background sense that there might not be enough, of money, fun or options, and their response is to make sure there always is. This makes them excellent at networking and dealing. They know people who know people. They also tend to be generous hosts, because sharing abundance confirms that it exists.
